My classroom follows the 3 school-wide choices which are:
1. Choose Safety. 2. Choose Responsibility 3. Choose Kindness.
My classroom also utilizes a behavior clip chart in order to track behavior.
Explanation: Student names are written on clothes pins. All students begin the day on green (ready to learn). *Please note that staying on green all day is a huge success!
When students are caught following a rule correctly or doing an exceptionally good job, I will ask them to move their clip up on the chart. When students move up on the clip chart, they can earn a positive email home to parents and even the principal! If a student is not following the classroom rules or being disruptive, I will ask them to move their clip down on the chart. This results in a number of different consequences (See below). Yellow: this is simply a reminder to think about appropriate behavior in the classroom and make a change. Orange: Depending on the situation, the student may be asked to put their head down (during a fun activity or other non-instructional time), miss recess or part of recess, sit out during P.E. or other fun activities, and discuss their behavior with me during the first portion of recess. Red: this will result in parent contact (in the form of a note, email, or phone call). **Please note that students displaying unsafe behavior or behavior against school policy will bypass the classroom clip chart and be sent directly to the office. |
